Jayme Lewis grew up in Moorpark, California and fell in love with the bass at age 7 when he first heard Stanley Clarke's School Days.

The story actually begins much earlier than that - bass was really his third instrument; Jayme comes from a family of professional musicians traceable to 3 generations. His mother (a pianist) taught him piano at age 3, at age 6 he learned drums from his uncle (a drummer) and a year later his father (also a bassist) taught him bass.

At age 17 Jayme attended Victor Wooten's Bass and Nature Camp, where Vic encouraged Jayme to pursue a career in music (alongside several other instructors including Steve Bailey, Chuck Rainey, Anthony Wellington, Gerald Veasley, Will Lee and Oteil Burbridge). Jayme listened to Vic, and over the next 2 decades he dedicated his life to music, playing on the biggest stages and the most iconic TV shows, and subsequently acquired more professional titles than his business card will allow: session musician, touring bassist, music director, tour manager, TV/film composer, producer, engineer, educator, podcaster, YouTuber and Twitch streamer.

Jayme retired from touring in 2019 and moved to Las Vegas where he now spends most of his time recording music and producing regular content for both Jayme's Bass Academy and his YouTube channel Deadbeat Studios.

Either on stage, in the studio or on camera Jayme has travelled the world to play music and work with Mitch Ryder, Warren Huart, Pete Thorn, Adam Neely, Glenn Fricker, Mary Spender, Michael Palmisano, Phil-X, Divinity Roxx, Shim Moore, Wil Pearce, Tom Crouch, Adam Lambert, Ester Dean, Meghan Trainor, The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Michael Gungor, Colton Dixon, William Matthews, Tom Strahle, John Strandell, Todd Fields, Peter Amato, Matthew Gerard, Robbie Nevil, Mauricio Guerrero Sr., Matt Forger, Megan Nicole, Kellyeann Keough, Bill Worrell, The Dread Pirate Roberts, Ra Diaz, Aaron Kellim, Evening Elephants, Barry Keenan, OBEEHAVE, The Bookouts, Ben Kolarcik, Matt Bayless, Real Life Church, Shepherd, Higher Vision, North Point, Lothal, Divine Attraction, For All Seasons, Karen as Dolly and many others.

Since 2007, both Jayme's compositions and bass-playing can be heard on major TV shows and from CBS, Disney, MTV, Nickelodeon, NBC and HBO on shows like The Daily Show, The Hannah Montana Show, Spectacular!, RuPaul's Drag Race, BET's Sistas, The Surreal Life, The Challenge and The Jersey Shore. Jayme also co-wrote the theme song of TV's first all-female sports talk show We Need to Talk on CBS.
